Me

A tale of two Aussies in Switzerland

Hi, I’m Sarah, and I’ll be sharing with you stories of my life and how everything is better with cheese and vegemite.

I’m from Melbourne, Australia and am currently living and working in Geneva, Switzerland. Every Australian grows up with Vegemite. Vegemite on toast, Vegemite in sandwiches or Vegemite on crackers. However it comes, Vegemite is a part of my life and I love it. The same thing can be said about Chocolate and Cheese in Switzerland. It is a huge part of the Swiss culture and heritage and I have the blessed opportunity to enjoy both Swiss cheese and Australian vegemite, together. So that’s the name of my blog and here’s a little bit more about me.

Passionately following God is part of life

First and foremost I am a Christian. I love God and will passionately follow Him all the days of my life. I am married to my best friend and love that we are on this amazing journey together. Life has thrown us a few curve balls and I have no doubt that there are many more to come but we have each other and we have God and that’s enough for me.

Exploring Switzerland and Europe is part of life

We really are living the dream and we’re making the most of our current home base by exploring as much of Switzerland and Europe as we can before we head back to Australia. So far we’ve been to Denmark, England, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Morocco, The Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland (of course). But there is still a long list of places to visit so this year we hope to say hello to Belgium, Scotland and Turkey. I hope you enjoy hearing about them as much as I enjoy sharing our experiences with you.

Healthy adventures in the kitchen is part of life

Life without food is boring. I live to eat. But both my husband and I have a family history of high cholesterol so we are very conscious about what we eat in terms of saturated fats and sugars. We are also training to run a marathon and therefore nutrition and eating well are priorities. I’ll only share with you my bestest and most yummiest recipes because if I’m honest, there are far more disasters in my kitchen than successes!

Journey to run a marathon is part of life

My husband is a runner and until last year I was anything but a runner. Couch potato was more to my liking. He started entering some races in Switzerland and encouraged me to sign up for the 5km (just less than) Course de l’Escalade race in Geneva in December 2011. I decided to give it a go and struggled through months of training to reach the 5km mark. I then signed up for the 5km La Genevoise race at the Geneva Marathon in May 2012 before tackling the Half-Marathon in Amsterdam in October 2012. For me to exercise I need motivation and entering races is a great form of motivation. My goal for 2013 was to conquer the Berlin Marathon in September 2013 and praise the Lord I was able to do it! What’s next? Stayed tuned to find out 🙂

That’s all about me. I hope you enjoy my blog and thanks for stopping by.

God bless xx
